CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One week after Border Patrol agents arrived in Charlotte for an operation known as “Charlotte’s Web,” some families say fear has kept them from leaving their homes — and in many cases, kept students out of school.
Now, members of the community are stepping up in a grassroots effort to ensure families still get what they need.
Inside a Charlotte home, what began as a small act of kindness has grown into a full-scale relief effort.
“I feel so inspired,” Jana said, standing among shelves of food and essential items stacked to the ceiling.
Jana has turned her house into a makeshift warehouse, a hub where more than 100 volunteers now take calls, organize requests, pack food boxes and deliver them to families too afraid to shop.
