CLEVELAND, Ohio – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed repairs to Cleveland Harbor’s west pier, a popular spot for walking and fishing that also provides access to the old U.S. Coast Guard Station and Cleveland Metroparks’ Wendy Park.
Cleveland Metroparks is undertaking additional improvements that include new fencing, which means the pier and a small area at the east end of Wendy Park will remained closed until 2026.
Great Lakes Dock & Materials performed the federally funded pier repairs under a $7.2 million contract. The contractor started construction in 2024 and finished the job this past September.
The fixes help to ensure commercial ships and recreational boaters can safely make their way from Lake Erie into the Cuyahoga River, according to the corps.
