LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
The DUI charge against a former University of Louisville basketball star has been dismissed.
Russ Smith was arrested in June in the Highlands after making an illegal U-turn and driving with expired license plates.
Police reported smelling alcohol on his breath, and Smith admitted to having two bourbon drinks. So, he was also charged with DUI.
Tests later confirmed his blood alcohol content was below the legal limit, and the judge dismissed the charge. The expired license plates charge was also dismissed.
Smith was initially charged with reckless driving, which was amended down to improper turning.
Smith pleaded guilty to that turning charge, which carries a $100 fine.
