BELLA COOLA, British Columbia – A grizzly bear attacked a group of schoolchildren and teachers on a trail, leaving 11 people injured, according to a news report from the Newark Nation.

The bear remained on the loose as of Thursday night, with police and conservation officers patrolling the area. An emergency health services spokesman confirmed that two people were critically injured, while two others sustained serious injuries.

In response, the local school has announced it will be closed on Friday. Counseling services will be offered to students.
