OSHKOSH, Wis. (WBAY) - Nursing has been excluded as a “professional degree” by the Trump administration as the Department of Education prepares to make massive cuts to providing student loans.
Under this bill , only “professional degree” students will be eligible for the higher loan limit. Noticeably absent from the list are nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and physical therapists.
Kim Brundidge is a Doctor of Nursing Student pursuing her DNP to become a family nurse practitioner, while still working some hours as a bedside nurse. She’s one of the many students pursuing a graduate degree who would be affected by the department of education no longer classifying graduate nursing degrees as professional.
