JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ga. — A Jefferson County mother was arrested in connection to the murder of her eight-month-old child on Thursday, according to a release from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

The release said that Dakota Taylor, 21, was arrested after a nearly year-long investigation into the death of her eight-month-old in Matthews, Georgia.

According to the release, initial information showed that her child was found unconscious within the 2100 block of Mount Moriah Road in Matthews, Georgia. The child was brought to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

The GBI said, on Jan. 8, 2025, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office asked the GBI to help in the investigation into the death of the child.
