LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Voters shot down an $83 million bond issue in District 30 that school board employees say would have meant improvements and repairs at Sulphur’s public schools.

Officials say Sulphur High needs a laundry list of repairs and improvements. The remnants of hurricanes Laura and Delta still dress the outside of several buildings.

“We’re disappointed, but we’re going to do what we’ve always done and let’s just make sure our kids have as many opportunities as possible. We have things that we needed to have done and things that would enhance their educational experience while they’re here,” Sulphur High Principal Dr. Katherine Clophus said.
