SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police have arrested a local pediatrician amid an investigation that began when officials said a child reported he had been sexually assaulted.

Gabriel Perez, 50, was taken into custody Friday on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Officials said the victim, estimated to be between 10 and 16 years old, had made an outcry to his parents. They then contacted local authorities.

"Our detectives went and spoke with the suspect you guys saws today," said Officer Lizzandra Trevino, an SAPD spokesperson. "He had corroborating statements that aligned with what the victim stated had occurred. At this time, our detectives had enough and sufficient evidence to walk a warrant on Mr. Perez."
