MCLEAN COUNTY ( 25News Now ) - An 18-year-old from Normal will remain in the McLean County Jail before trial on charges he shot and stabbed his father earlier this week, a day after he reportedly tried to kill himself.

Keinon Green appeared on Friday before Associate Judge Amy McFarland, who agreed with prosecutors that he should stay behind bars while the attempted murder case is pending.

Authorities said Green’s father was shot in the thigh, shattering his femur bone. The man also suffered gunshot wounds to the abdomen and arm, and he was stabbed in the ribs at a residence in the 700 block of Hale Street.

Normal Police were called there by the mother of Green’s child about 3:25 a.m. She reportedly told authorities she awoke to the sounds of gunshots, and someone kicking the door in.
