Tempe police made 249 arrests in one night for underage drinking at a bar where they had previously arrested many others for similar offenses.
Arrests for possessing fake IDs, underage intoxication, and providing false information to police were made on Nov. 20 at the Tempe Tavern on Apache Boulevard and McClintock Drive, according to a Tempe police email. Police said most of those cited were released at the scene, and one individual was under 18.
"These are shocking numbers. We don’t celebrate them. Underage drinking puts people at risk - and that’s why we take it seriously," read a statement by Tempe police shared on their social media accounts.
On April 24, also at Tempe Tavern, police made 173 arrests , 165 of which were for underage drinking. Eight people were booked into jail on
