A D.C. police officer accused of assaulting two Virginia police officers and trying to take one officer’s gun in September pleaded guilty Friday.

Officer Trevon King pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated with elevated blood-alcohol content, disarming a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct. Three other charges against him were dropped.

King was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in jail with most of that time suspended. His active sentence is about 40 days – less than half that with good behavior.

He’ll also write apology letters to the other officers involved.

Attorneys also asked King be required to have an interlock device on his personal car. It’s unclear, yet, if he will be required to use one on his patrol vehicle.
