A wrong-way driver who crashed on Interstate 270 in Maryland Friday afternoon – backing up traffic for miles during rush hour – had been pursued by police and had kids with him, police say.
The chase began in Frederick County, where state police pursued a driver headed in the wrong direction on the shoulder of Route 15, and continued into Montgomery County after the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office picked up the pursuit.

The suspect wound up driving southbound in the northbound lanes of I-270 until he crashed in the Clarksburg area.
According to police and dispatch accounts, children were in the car, and after the crash, the driver was holding a child in the road when he was tasered.
