WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — The difficulty in stopping Washington Township’s explosive offense is that the Minutemen can torch teams with the run or the pass.

In Friday’s 35-27 state Group 5 semifinal win over Kingsway, Washington Township provided plenty of both.

With quarterback Cole Aqiuino throwing three touchdown passes and running back Jaylen Robinson rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns on six carries, the Minutemen earned their first trip to the state championship game in the four years that NJSIAA public schools have been competing for a state title.

Washington Township (13-0) will face Passaic Tech (10-3) in next weekend’s Group 5 state championship. The game will be played either at the Meadowlands or Rutgers.
