An avid Coventry Telegraph reader is celebrating a milestone birthday this weekend. Douglas George Wall was born on November 22, 1920 and today marks his 105th birthday.

Mr Wall has lived in Coventry his whole life, including in Earlsdon , Croft Road and then Corley.

The great- great-grandfather lived independently until the incredible age of 102 and moved to a care home two years ago. But he remains sprightly, with grand-daughter Natika saying that his favourite party trick is to touch his toes.

She added: "He has a never-ending story book of tales to tell, he still has all of his faculties about him and a great sense of humour!"

Mr Wall has worked in various jobs over the years, including as a gardener, a driver for the coal board and later for British Oxygen Company.
