HOLYOKE - Despite losing much of last year’s squad and facing injuries Friday night, West Boylston football did not relent.

Facing the Lee Wildcats (10-1) in the playoffs for the second year in a row, this time in the Division VIII semifinals, the Lions (9-2) relied on their running game and a multiple look defense on Friday at Holyoke High School.

Running for 405 yards and five scores, West Boylston beat Lee 42-22 and secured their fourth trip to Gillette Stadium in the last four years. West Boylston has won the state championship in each of its last three trips.

“It never gets old, it never gets old,” Lions coach Mike Ross said. “We’re happy, and hopefully we’ll be 100 percent healthy. We weren’t 100 percent today, so hopefully then we will be.”
