If you claim certain benefits and you are struggling to pay for an emergency cost , you may qualify for some help from the Government. Depending on your household circumstances, you could receive up to £812.

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) can provide a Budgeting Advance to help you pay for unexpected costs. You can use the cash for emergency household costs like replacing a broken cooker, anything you need to get a job or stay in work, or funeral costs.

You will, however, have to pay the money back through your benefit payments. You’ll usually pay it back over 24 months, starting from your next benefit payment. This comes as the DWP gave an update on the Christma
