STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The stretch of Hylan Boulevard from Poillon Avenue to Arbutus Avenue remains closed on Saturday following flooding at the intersection of Wendy Drive in Annadale, according to a spokesperson for the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
As of Saturday morning, crews at the scene were still excavating the site to determine the exact cause of the issue that triggered flooding Friday afternoon, the spokesperson noted.
Early Friday afternoon, water could be seen gushing from sewer grates and manhole covers at the intersection of Wendy Drive.
The surge in water, which had a light-brown tint, resulted in road buckling in a few spots at the scene. Among the most notable buckles was one directly in front of the driveway of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High Schoo
