Gloucester City manager Daf Williams was more than satisfied following his side’s 2-0 win over Chertsey Town on Saturday afternoon, a result that closed the gap at the top of the league.

The Tigers delivered a dominant first-half display, creating chance after chance, but nothing found the back of the Chertsey net despite their pressure.

The breakthrough finally arrived five minutes into the second half when a Marcus Day cross found Sion Spence, who rose highest to guide a header into the top-left corner and give City a deserved lead.

The second goal followed shortly after, in the 54th minute. A marauding run into the box from Harry Pinchard opened space for Kane Simpson, who fired high into the net from a tight angle, his fifth goal in four games.
