IOWA CITY — A date with disaster nearly materialized inside Kinnick Stadium, where Iowa football messed around with Michigan State all afternoon.

The Hawkeyes were lucky to survive.

But survive they did, primarily on the leg of Drew Stevens. His 44-yard game-winning field goal with zeroes on the scoreboard lifted Iowa to a 20-17 win that won’t make the highlight reels — but still counts all the same.
