A mass abduction in Nigeria has seen more than 300 children and staff kidnapped from a Catholic school .
According to the Christian Association of Nigeria, 303 students and 12 teachers are thought to have been kidnapped by gunmen from on St Mary's School in central Nigeria. It was earlier reported that 215 pupils had been taken - but revised figures suggest almost half of the school's student population have been abducted. The kidnapping comes a surge of attacks by armed groups in the country, known locally as bandits, who have previously taken people for ransom.
