Northern Territory Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro delivered a positive update after Tropical Cyclone Fina tore through the Top End, revealing there had been "no injuries" from the storm despite thousands of homes and businesses loosing power.

The category three system tore through the NT overnight on Saturday, with Wurrumiyanga bearing the brunt of 205km/h winds and driving rain.

Darwin was spared the worst of the cyclone, with winds just in excess of 100km/h recorded in the city.

Despite this, heavy rain contributed to the fall of numerous trees and sparked localised flooding in some areas, as the downpour broke rainfall records.

Middle Point, about 50 km south-east of Darwin, was battered with 430mm in just 24 hours - the highest ever fall recorded at that weather station.
