OAKFIELD, Wis. (WBAY) - A 24-year-old man from Lomira was found dead from a gunshot wound in the area of Stumpf Road and Wild Goose Road in the Town of Oakfield, Fond du Lac County.

The Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office received a call from that area. The caller found the man, who was hunting near the area earlier in the day, dead near a tree stand from a gun shot wound.

Officials believe the gunshot would is from unintended discharge, after preliminary investigation.

This is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public. It remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
