LAGRANGE – A house fire early Tuesday claimed the life of the sole occupant of an apartment on Titusville Road. LaGrange firefighters were dispatched to the fire at 12:32 a.m. on November 18, and were at the Sutton North Apartments a few minutes later when they observed smoke coming from one of the units, causing fire officials to upgrade the call to a second alarm.
Firefighters rushed to the second-floor unit with a hose line to aggressively attack the deadly blaze. They quickly made entry to the burning unit and located the victim. The occupant was removed and turned over to EMS personnel, who rushed the patient to a local hospital, where the patient succumbed to their injuries, according to LaGrange Fire Chief Anthony Champion.
