Goshen boys’ soccer coach Mike Kelly wanted to rekindle the popular alumni soccer game, so earlier this year he started putting out feelers via text messages and email.
Kelly’s phone blew up, and he expects approximately 80 former boys’ and girls’ players to participate in the event, a soccer reunion, on Saturday at Goshen High School. The alumni game coincides with Goshen’s 75 th year of soccer.
“We have had a great turnout while doing this game over the years, but this is probably the most players,” said Kelly, who has coached Goshen for the last 27 years. “In Goshen, the tradition of playing soccer runs deep, and I expect an awesome event. The word is getting out there, and I’m still hearing from more players. It is going to be a fun day.”
