A police officer harassed a person over a prolonged period before lying to investigators in an attempt to mislead them. Police constable (PC) Catherine Smith from South Wales Police would have been dismissed because of her behaviour had she not already resigned, chief constable Jeremy Vaughan said following a misconduct hearing.
Smith was accused of pursuing a sustained course of conduct against an individual referred to only as "Person A". Between February 2023 and June 2025 she sent harassing text messages, posted offensive items, made false reports to police, and attended Merthyr Combined Court as part of the harassment.
These actions led to her arrest on June 3 on suspicion of harassment. During an
