A Birmingham boxer dubbed the ' Wayne Rooney of the ring' has been in hospital for three nights and said he needed to deal with a medical issue "properly now".

Hugely successful Small Heath boxer Frankie Gavin won a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in the lightweight division at Melbourne 2006.

The former world and European champion told his 50,000 followers on social media that "diabetes is no joke!"
