BEAUFORT COUNTY, S.C. — Evidence suggests that the search for a missing man in the Lowcountry has come to a heartbreaking end.
The Beaufort County Sheriff's Office announced on Saturday that it had suspended its search for 79-year-old Isaac Bussey Sr. after a deceased person believed to be him was found that evening.
Investigators said Bussey was reported missing on Friday night, and deputies began their investigation searching the area of Old Rail Bed Road in Lobeco. Officials said Bussey left home to go shrimping, but people who knew him said they hadn't heard from him since 3 p.m. that day.
With Saturday night's discovery, the sheriff's office referred additional questions to the Beaufort County Coroner's Office.
