KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Knox County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dalton Swanger has faced complications after being injured in the line of duty, and he is finally scheduled to receive a complicated surgery, according to his girlfriend, Stephania Pumphrey.
Pumphrey has taken to Facebook several times to explain Swanger’s health in the months since he was critically injured in June.

In October, Pumphrey said Swanger had been on a ventilator and in a coma for an extended period of time. She also said he had tracheal stenosis, which is when someone’s trachea narrows, causing breathing complications.
