BRANFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Many people are heading out for extended holiday vacations ahead of Thanksgiving, with this whole week expected to be busy on the roads and in the skies.
Triple A expected 772,000 people to drive through Connecticut this week. The organization said 90 percent of families living in the state will join out-of-state visitors to drive to their holiday meals, meaning extra busy conditions on highways.
Traffic on Interstate 95 was moving smoothly on Sunday evening, but conditions were expected to worsen as Thanksgiving approached.
Experts said to plan ahead, leave early and avoid the highways if possible. Some rain was expected on Tuesday and Wednesday nights , but it was predicted to be during overnight hours when fewer people were on the roads.
