INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Fla. – The locksmith who was was critically injured after being shot while deputies tried to serve an eviction notice at a home near Vero Beach has died, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials said Locksmith David Long , 76, died from his injuries just days after Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy Terri Sweeting-Mashkow, 47, was killed while they were responding to the home to evict Michael Halberstam from his mother’s home at her request.

Deputies said when they entered the home, Halberstam began indiscriminately firing his gun.
