Kansas women’s soccer’s NCAA tournament run ended Sunday, with a 2-0 loss in the Sweet 16 against Duke in Durham, North Carolina.

The Jayhawks conceded a goal in the first half and another in the second, while proving unable to connect on any of their own chances. Although the Blue Devils out-shot KU 13-9 during the matchup, Kansas did have an 8-3 lead in corner kicks. And now the Jayhawks will head into the the offseason with a final record of 16-6-3.

“I just told the team after the match that every year tends to end in a little bit of sadness and pain,” Kansas coach Nate Lie said in a KU release. “I think this one is especially up there on the list.
