DORSET — The recent Sunday service at the United Church Dorset and East Rupert closed with the hymn “For the Healing of the Nation,” whose lyrics include, “Show us how through care and goodness/ fear will die and hope increase.” Then, about 50 members of the congregation marched down Church Street and up a stretch of Route 30 carrying banners in support of an initiative known as Truth and Justice Vermont.
“Support First Amendment Rights” many read, as well as, “Due Process for Everyone.”
The fledging movement began two months ago after Pastor Mark McDonough gave a sermon on David and Goliath, casting the current Christian Nationalist Movement as Goliath and other Christians as David.
