LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -On Saturday, the National Alliance on Mental Illness and Positive Somebody hosted a men’s mental health event at Stage One in Lansing.

Organizers wanted to create a safe space for men where they could easily access resources and tools.

The event featured panels about men’s mental health and a comedy show. Tom Arthur, pastor of Sycamore Creek Church, spoke on how comedy and laughing helps break the stigma for men.

“A lot of the time, you hear how men are more shoulder-to-shoulder relationships rather than face-to-face,” said Arthur. “So, you have all these men in this performing arts center and the stage laughing about stuff that makes us laugh,” Arthur said. “We’re going to model taking that shoulder-to-shoulder relationship a step further to then let’s laugh abou
