MORTON, Ill. (25 News) – A fire at a Morton bakery Sunday evening caused an estimated $100,000 in damage, but the business plans to fulfill Thanksgiving orders despite the setback.
25 News reports a passerby called the Morton Fire Department around 5:15 p.m. after seeing smoke inside Great Harvest Bread Co. in the 600 block of West Jackson Street.
The business was closed at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Morton Fire Chief Justin Hale said firefighters extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes. East Peoria and Washington fire departments assisted Morton crews.
Jackson Street was temporarily closed while firefighters worked at the scene.
Chief Hale said the fire does not appear to have been intentionally set. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to investigate the
