GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) - Jackson County SWAT was called to the 100 block of Blackberry Lane in George County after shots were fired while George County Sheriff’s Office deputies were serving a warrant Sunday evening.
An official with the George County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) said deputies attempted to serve a warrant to a man living in that home around 5 p.m. They said, when deputies arrived the suspect barricaded himself inside the home and began firing a gun at the deputies.
The GCSO official said when SWAT arrived, the suspect shot at them. The SWAT team then returned fire, killing the suspect. No deputies were injured.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigations will be investigating the shooting.
