A developer says he’s bringing much-needed housing to Mesa with a proposal to build 30 townhomes near Greenfield and Brown roads. But nearby residents, however, say it’s too dense and doesn’t fit the neighborhood.
Now it’s up to City Council to decide. But after the Planning and Zoning Board recently recommended denial, it was unclear last week if the developer planned to take his chances with Council or rework the proposal.
“In Mesa, 35% of people rent,” said Dave Richins, representing the Greenfield Multifamily Project. “And so, there’s a need for rental housing in Mesa for sure.”
The land is a triangle-shaped parcel along a canal, which makes it “very difficult to develop,” Richins said at the Nov. 12 Planning and Zoning Board meeting. Richins is a former Mesa councilman, who served
