The Michigan Department of Transportation is preparing to reopen the new M-96 (Michigan Avenue) interchange with I-69 in Marshall, according to a community announcement. The interchange is expected to open by Nov. 25 with one lane in each direction as crews finish the first phase of the $335 million Marshall Modernization Project.
The new design is a diverging diamond interchange (DDI), the first of three major rebuilding projects supporting the Marshall Area Jobs, Opportunity and Recreation (MAJOR) Campus. While traffic will begin flowing soon, crews will continue working into December to install signs, pavement markings and other finishing details.
