A man has been left in a serious condition after a "targeted" stab attack inside a social club.

The 22-year-old was rushed to hospital after the incident at the Belle Vue Social Club, on Kendal Road in Hartlepool, shortly after 6pm on Sunday (November 23).

Cleveland Police said he sustained several stab injuries and remains in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

Police believe the incident was a "targeted attack", adding that no further threat is posed.

A force spokesperson added: "Whilst this will undoubtedly cause some concern those living in the area, this incident appears to have been a targeted attack, with no threat to the wider community.

"Detectives are carrying out several lines of investigation today, and anyone with information or footage of the incident is asked
