KEITHVILLE, La. - Caddo Parish Sheriff's deputies are investigating a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a train that happened Sunday evening in the southern part of the parish.

it happened shortly after 7 p.m. on the railroad tracks near the intersection of Preston Road and Keithville-Keatchie Road.

According to the deputies' report, the engineer and conductor of a Union Pacific train saw an individual on the tracks. The train crew activated the emergency braking system and tried to stop, but were unable to do so before hitting the individual.

Caddo Fire District personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the pedestrian dead.
