CANTON – Local antique treasure hunter Kirk Greaves figures that a vintage travel trunk is worth preserving – especially since it has the name "Mrs. Wm. McKinley" on its side.
With its wood casing deteriorating, its metal framework tarnished, and its rope handles frayed, the illustrious name stood out to Greaves and intrigued him.
Was this the trunk of first lady Ida McKinley, the wife of President William McKinley? Greaves and the trunk's previous owner, restaurant entrepreneur Mark Shaheen, believe so.
