My home state of Utah is home to no less than five national parks and more than a dozen national park sites. As a local, I've been spoiled by being just a short drive away from some of the most iconic natural formations in the U.S., almost taking for granted what people fly across the world to experience.

My proximity to the national parks means that I'm able to visit these dramatic destinations more casually than most visitors. Unlike some who visit southern Utah as a bucket-list, once-in-a-lifetime experience, I arrive at each park with a list of things to do "this time" and a few things to save for "next time."
