A person was taken hospital after being found unresponsive following a kitchen fire in a seaside town.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service was called by neighbours at 4.35pm to reports of smoke at a three-storey block of flats in Stables Road in Felixstowe.

Fire engines from Ipswich East and Felixstowe fire stations attended the blaze.

Once arriving, they identified the flat concerned and found the occupant unresponsive - so they forced entry into the flat.

The fire was found to have started in the oven and it was extinguished using a high-pressure jet hose, the fire service said.

Fans were used to ventilate the property of residual smoke, and the police were also on scene to secure the property.

An ambulance and ambulance officer vehicle were also sent to the scene.
