SAGAINAW TWP, MI – The pool at Sherwood Elementary School is reopening next week after months of repairs, Saginaw Township Community Schools officials announced.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the pool is planned for 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the school, located at 3870 Shattuck Road in Saginaw Township. The public is invited to attend the event.

The pool served as a community hub before being closed by the district in 2022 due to black mold, structural problems and other issues. Work on the pool restoration project began in June.

The restoration project included the replacement of the roof over the pool area, the installation of a new pool dehumidification system and other improvements .

Funding for the $1.9 million project was provided through state appropriations.
