A man was killed in an overnight shooting in Deerfield Beach, and a suspect was detained, deputies said.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, on Sunday, deputies received a call about a shooting that happened near the 200 block of Northwest Second Way.

When deputies and Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue arrived at the scene, they found a man who was suffering from gunshot wounds and lifesaving measures were performed.

Deputies said the man was then taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

His identity has not been released.

During their investigation, a suspect was found and detained.

Neighbors told NBC6 that they heard back-to-back gunshots and then saw someone on the ground in the grassy area outside a home.
