A second victim has died days after a triple shooting in Indian River County that also claimed the life of a deputy, the sheriff's office announced.

"It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announces the passing of local locksmith David Long, who succumbed to injuries sustained in the tragic incident on November 21, 2025. Mr. Long was 76 years old," the sheriff's office said in a statement on Sunday.

The shooting happened on Friday, when a man shot at three deputies and Long as they were evicting him from his mother's home in the Bermuda Club gated community north of Vero Beach, Indian River County Sheriff Eric Flowers said.

The deputies and Long were in the home's entryway when the suspect, 37-year-old Michael Halberstam , suddenly opened fire, Flowers said.
