A Maryland man who shouted at thieves breaking into a car was held at gunpoint and had his own vehicle stolen in a violent Laurel carjacking early Sunday morning, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Officers said the ambush happened at around 3:35 p.m. on Nov. 23, in the area of Russett Green East and Hayshire Street. The victim told police he was walking to his car when he “observed a theft from an automobile in progress.”
Police said he yelled at the suspects — but instead of running, they “drove towards the victim, pointed a handgun at him,” and robbed him. Detectives said the men stole his wallet, cellphone, and keys at gunpoint.
It didn’t end there.
Investigators said the suspects then jumped into his blue 2009 Infiniti, stole it, and fled the neighborhood with both vehicles heading toward Laurel Fort Meade Road.
Police said the suspects are three black males wearing dark clothing, and added that two were armed with handguns during the attack.
Detectives with the Regional Crimes Unit are investigating. Anyone with information is asked to contact them at 410-222-4730. Anonymous tips can be sent to the Anne Arundel County Police Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
