Poppies are traditional in Canada, Britain, Australia, New Zealand and other Commonwealth countries.

Catherine Ford wrote this in the Calgary Herald: “Honouring our veterans should be more than wearing a poppy on Remembrance Day.”

Those are exactly my thoughts when I see how quickly poppies are discarded after Nov 11.

I feel Canada remembers its veterans too briefly for just one day. We owe veterans honour every day for the freedom they paid in blood.

We grudgingly buy our fighting forces ships, jet fighters and armaments, only after much begging.

It is absolutely despicable how our soldiers are equipped- useless submarines discarded by Britain?
