Colombian authorities say 17 minors linked to an extremist ultra-orthodox Jewish sect were rescued late Saturday in Antioquia in northern Colombia.

The joint operation from the Army, migration and child protective services participated in the raid on the Lev Tahor group in Yarumal.

Images distributed by authorities showed the minors being rescued late Saturday from a hotel in the municipality of Yarumal.

Five of the minors reportedly had Interpol Yellow Notices issued by other countries.

"During the verification, the immigration status of 26 people was established, including the identification of 17 minors, 5 of whom had INTERPOL yellow notices for possible risks associated with disappearance or human trafficking," said Gloria Esperanza Arriero, Director of Migration Colombia.

The Lev Tahor, an Orthodox Jewish sect, had apparently recently settled in that area of Colombia.
