A 31-year-old man was arrested Saturday, Nov. 22 after Battle Creek police responded to a report of a person with a gun in the 20th block of South 23rd Street.

Officers were dispatched after a caller reported the suspect was armed with an AR-15 rifle shortly after 3 a.m. While officers were enroute, dispatch advised that people were leaving the area in a sports car. Officers stopped the vehicle but determined that the individuals inside were not involved, Battle Creek police said in a statement.

When officers arrived at the scene, they spoke with the reporting party and the suspect. A 27-year-old woman told police the man threatened her with a rifle and pushed her face, police said. She also said another woman hit her with a liquor bottle and a second woman fired several shots from a han
