KALAMAZOO, MI -- A wall at South Westnedge School will cost $427,350 to replace after a truck drove through the building’s exterior.

The Kalamazoo Public Schools Board of Trustees approved the funds at a Thursday, Nov. 20 board meeting. The funding approved Thursday will be reimbursed by insurance, the agenda said.

The school at 3333 S. Westnedge Ave. is used as a transition building while other schools in the district are closed for renovations.

A truck drove through the building’s brick wall and into a classroom on Sept. 19, according to the meeting agenda. Damage was limited to the wall and a classroom, the agenda said.

Classes weren’t in session at the time of the crash because the building is undergoing $6.7 million in renovations .
